Tier Calculation's explanation
In this article, we will explain the tier calculation in detail.
When setting up the tier program in the Kangaroo business portal, you can set up and define the tier rules:- Go to the Tiers and click on manage tiers.
- Go to Step3 to define the tier rules
Here's a detailed explanation of each Customer status calculation:
- Tier status is defined manually :
When this rule is enabled each customer will have to be manually assigned tier status in their customer profile under the Customers section
Click here to learn more on How to manually assign Tiers to customers. - Previous Cycle:
When this rule is enabled, the customer will be enrolled and upgraded to a tier level based on their previous transaction activity and history following the mentioned cycle.
N.B: The calculation will only take effect once the tier program is set up and activated. The calculation will only happen once.
i.e.: The customer enrolls in Feb 2023 and makes multiple transactions throughout the year.
The. business will activate the tier program in Feb 2024, the customer will be enrolled in the correct tier based on the transactions activity done between Feb 2023 & Feb 2024. - Daily Evaluation:
When this rule is enabled, the customer will be upgraded to the right tier based on the daily calculation.
There are multiple configurations to take into consideration which are:
- Upgrade rule
1-Keep the same cycle: At the end of the first cycle, the cycle period will restart.
2- Extend cycle: When the customer upgrades a tier the customer cycle will restart. (Will be extended)
- Downgrade rule
1-Restart the cycle: At the end of the cycle, the customer tier progress will restart from Zero.
2- Based on the previous cycle At the end of the cycle, the customer will keep their previous status.
Here are some examples of a combination of 4 different scenarios:
Scenario 1 :
Cycle 1
- Start of the cycle: 04/01/2024
- End of the cycle: 03/31/2025
Cycle 2
- Start of the cycle: 04/01/2025
- End of the cycle: 03/31/2024
=> Will go back to Tier 1 in Cycle 2 regardless of the tier reached in Cycle 1
Scenario 2 :
Cycle 1
- Start of the cycle: 04/01/2024
- End of the cycle: 04/01/2025
Cycle 2
- Start of the cycle: 04/01/2025
- End of the cycle: 04/01/2026
=> Assuming I move up to tier 2 in Cycle 1
Will stay in Tier 2 in Cycle 2 and will have to earn the remaining points to move to tier 3
Scenario 3:
Assuming I moved up to tier 2 in June 06/2024
Cycle 1
- Start of the cycle: 04/01/2024
- End of the cycle: 04/01/2025 (will be disregarded)
Cycle 2
- Start of the cycle: 06/01/2024
- End of the cycle: 06/31/2025
=> The second cycle will start from the day I upgraded a tier but will reset my tier status at the end of the cycle
Scenario 4:
Assuming I moved up to tier 2 in June 06/2024
Cycle 1
- Start of the cycle: 04/01/2024
- End of the cycle: 04/01/2025 (will be disregarded)
Cycle 2
- Start of the cycle: 06/01/2024
- End of the cycle: 06/01/2025
=> The second cycle will start from the day I upgraded a tier and will stay in tier 2 at the end of cycle 2
