Compliance with the law

What you need to know when it comes to SMS marketing.

What are my obligations with regards to anti-spam and similar laws?

You are responsible for all activity occurring under your Kangaroo User accounts and shall abide by all applicable local, provincial, state, national and foreign laws, treaties and regulations in connection with your use of the Service, including those related to data privacy, Local, National and International DoNotCall Registries (DNC), Communication Spam Laws (including but not limited to CAN-SPAM in USA or CASL in Canada) , international communications and the transmission of technical or personal data.

Keep in mind that collecting explicit consent from your customers is crucial; Do not send any unsolicited messages to any customer who did not give you their consent to do so; otherwise, you may be at risk of being sued, and forced to pay penalties ranging from thousands to millions of dollars.

Does Kangaroo maintain Do Not Call lists?

Every Country, State, or city in some cases may have its own regulations with regard to compliance with DNC registries. Kangaroo Rewards operates globally and cannot handle such DNC lists.

It is the responsibility of the Business Owner (the Kangaroo Rewards customer) to adhere to the local laws and regulations regarding "Do Not Call" lists. Kangaroo Rewards does not have access to these lists and therefore cannot block attempts to call and send messages to these phone numbers unless the phone number had previously received a message from your business and replied with “STOP” to unsubscribe.

We recommend that, as a Business Owner or operator, you maintain and update your own calling and SMS messaging lists so that it is up to date with the phone numbers on the "Do Not Call" lists.
